Pet Dam Safety Upgrade

Pet Dam is located 13km south of Burnie on the Pet River. It was originally constructed in 1956 and its height was subsequently raised in 1966. Pet Dam holds 4,210ML of water at full supply level (FSL), achieved via an earth fill embankment 340 metres long and 4.9 metres wide.

Following a review of the Dam, it has been identified that the construction of the Dam does not meet the latest design standards. As a consequence, the Dam will be upgraded to meet these modern design standards.
