Huonville Main St Sewage Pump Station upgrade

TasWater has completed an upgrade of Huonville’s Main St sewage pump station (SPS) and rising main to the Ranelagh Sewage Treatment Plant.

The Huonville Main Road SPS is located at the rear of 13-17 Main St, Huonville, in a known floodplain. The old SPS was originally built in the 1960s but had a history of complaints and non-compliance.

The new pump station transfers all flows from Huonville and Franklin to the Ranelagh Sewage Treatment Plant, via a new rising main that now runs along Main Street and Wilmot Road. This replaces the old main which runs across private property parallel to Wilmot Road, about 30 metres behind the shops and properties.

The upgrade is an important project to help minimise the risk of sewage overflows, and reduce odour from the SPS. It will also improve system reliability and operational safety and will help cater for growth in Huonville over the next 30 years.
