West Cormiston Road Pressure Zone

Update - April 2016

TasWater has now completed works on the new West Cormiston Road pressure zone.

This project will deliver greater consistency in water pressure to our customers in the Cormiston Road area at Riverside.

Until now, customers in the area have received water from one of two supplies - the Reatta Road Reservoir Supply or the Lower Riverside Supply. Some of our customers on the Reatta Road Reservoir Supply have been subject to excessive water pressure while some of our customers at the upper extremeties of the Lower Riverside Supply have been subject to extremely low water pressure.

As part of this project TasWater has installed a new pressure reducing valve near the trunk main in New Ecclestone Road. We have also connected a number of customers who were previously on the Lower Riverside Supply to the Reatta Road Reservoir Supply to address the problems associated with low water pressure.

Some of our customers will have noticed a drop in their water pressure as a result of these works while others will have noticed a significant improvement.

Water pressures in the new pressure zone are well above the TasWater's minimum standard for residential areas. Our testing to date indicates that some homes are actually nearing the maximum allowable standard under TasWater's Price and Services Plan.

TasWater understands that some customers on the Reatta Road Reservoir Supply may have previously installed pressure reducing valves to minimise the risk of damage to household plumbing. If this is the case we suggest you speak with a licensed plumber about having the valve either removed or adjusted to help maximise your water pressure in the future.

We acknowledge that there have been a number of water interruptions as a result of this project and we thank our customers in the Cormiston Road area for their patience and understanding.
