Upgrades for Torrens Street Sewage Pump Station- Richmond

TasWater will be upgrading the sewage pump station (SPS) located on Torrens St, Richmond, to reduce the risk of sewage overflows into the Coal River.

The existing SPS, at the end of Torrens Street, needs to be upgraded to address environmental, pump capacity and emergency storage issues.

Due to the lack of available land around the existing pump station site, underground emergency storage will be located on the opposite river bank from the pump station, at the end of Jacombe Street.

A replacement rising main will be installed running from the Torrens Street SPS, along Torrens Street and Commercial Road to the Richmond Sewage Treatment Plant.

The weir walkway over the Coal River will be closed during the construction phase of this project for safety reasons. We apologise for any inconvenience caused and will do everything possible to re-open the walkway as quickly as possible.

TasWater will do everything possible to minimise the impact of this project on nearby residents.

Works are expected to commence in March and last approximately 3 months.

This project is part of TasWater's commitment to investing in new and improved water and sewerage infrastructure projects across Tasmania. These projects will provide improved public health and environmental outcomes and ensure our assets deliver reliable service for future generations.
